Hi Mike,
I have just uploaded my tracks but when I'm not logged in I can't find my pieces in the search engine? Does my music have to be approved first before its admitted to the library?

Hello Mike,
There are some tracks that I wish to delete but I can't, such as the track 'Transgression'. I have done some production on them and I'd like to put the latest updates.
Another enquiry I have is about registering my music. So, if I read it right, I after uploading a track in the Humtoom library, I should contact my PRO and register the music at their end. I should just put that Humtoo is the publisher. Correct?
Hope this all makes sense.
Regards,
Hans

Thanks, glad you like it. :) That's from one of the improvisations I play for my wife as she's going to sleep. Other ones are Clouds reflecting on the lake, Sweet refuge, Tet's love birds, and Expedition under the moon's gaze. But seems that there's something particular about that one...I'll have to try to remember what I was thinking about when I played it. :)

Hi Mike,
Yeah, I agree that different versions can be nice (although in my case sometimes the differences can be subtle). What would make it really nice is if one could put a short text description for each piece (outside of the title). It might help explain the differences and be another tool for expanding the search capabilities in the library.
-Jonathan
Thanks Mike. It's called "Step It Up".
Hi mike,
I recently uploaded a track which I've put forward for the library called 'Cao Fang`s Fountain'. Unfortunately I think I left it as a 48k / 24bit wav file and assume that's why it won't preview? I have now uploaded a track called 'Cao Fang`s Fountains' in the correct format to replace it.
Please can you delete the incorrectly encoded one?
Thank you,
David.

Mike;
What am I supposed to do with the songs that did not get attached to the library Are they rejected, or is there something that I need to do? I notice that when I try to put a logo file unto these there is a problem should I simply remove them and repost it?

Hi Mike -
I'm just uploading away here....If I decide one "genre" is better for me than another, can it be edited later on, or once I submit to the library is it a done deal?

Hi Mike,
This may be a silly question. When I signed up for Humtoo, I did so under my name (Knight Berman Jr), thinking that I might be composing most pieces specifically for projects. However, I see now that there are opportunities for actual 'songs' (in the Mixed Tape areas for example), and most of the songwriting I do - while still being under my name as the writer - is performed by me under the 'band name' The Marble Tea.
I'd like to start actively submitting more song material, but wondered how I could do that with The Marble Tea listed as the performer, rather than under my name. Should I create another account for The Marble Tea, or is there a way under my profile to make that designation when needed? I'd love to be able to do this in the manner that you prefer, but I'm just not sure what that is. Thanks!
I hope I explained that well enough...

Hello Mike,
I want to become a member of ASCAP (I have never had a PRO) but I'm not sure I will qualify. I have written many pieces of music, but none have ever been published or recorded commercially. I have written songs that were performed by bands that I was in, but not since around 2004. I don't have any records as to the exact dates these were performed, although I do remember where they were performed and approximately when it was. On the application, however, they ask for specific dates. I do not have any recordings or sheet music for them either.
I would appreciate any insight you may have.

Thank you Mike.
I will try to adapt my self to your system, fast.
Hi Mike, my track Sahara 3 was chosen for Grindstone-Eastern. As it's for theatre it probably won't get included in the sizzle reel as nothing visual to go with it. If you wanted to use any of my music as an intro/outro though that'd be great.
Also, some of the mix tapes that are shut have my tracks attached and I was wondering if the time between now and tracks being freed up for other projects could take not too long.
And... it would probably help us music makers if tracks could be rejected from projects when the person looking for music hears them and definitely doesn't want a track as it would free tracks up to be attached to other projects more quickly.
Finally, I love this sight and am really pleased with how easy it is to use, the agreement in general, and how friendly it is. I'm very happy that 1 of my tracks has been chosen for a project, several for mix tapes and I'm in the hum lead this week!
Thanks, Sharon

Hi Mike,
I notice that it appears tracks have already been picked for the various "mix tapes" that have January 31st deadlines. There was a track I was going to upload for one of them, but just haven't had a chance to record it; I was thinking by the end of the week I'd have some time and still be able to make the deadline....but is it effectively too late if tracks have been chosen now?

Hi Mike,
Okay, thanks! Regarding your question, the "for bass" at the end of "Conversation on Auld Lang Syne" was the only one that really bothered me, but there were two other titles that got affected by the 40-character limit. "Inspirational Feel Good Music (orchestra" could be changed to "Inspirational Feel Good Music (orch.)" or just "Inspirational Feel Good Music". "Squirrel and Rabbit`s Peek-a-boo (Humtoo" could be changed to "Squirrel and Rabbit`s Peek-a-boo (HT)"
Thanks,
-Jonathan

Hi Mike,
Very quick question: Is there a way I can change a title for something that I've already submitted to the library or a project (without having to delete and re-upload)? It looks as if after a certain point I can only change the logo. Some of the track names got cut off, because when you enter the track name, I guess the field allows more characters than are really allowed in the system. So, for example, I would want to change ""Conversation on Auld Lang Syne for Bass" to simply "Conversation on Auld Lang Syne" because "bass" was part of "bass clarinet" which apparently got cut off because of the limit, but I didn't notice until now.
Thanks,
-Jonathan

Hi Mike,
Just a quick comment. I love the way the site is organized; I've uploaded some pieces and am hoping it works out.
If you're open to suggestions, I wonder if you've thought of including some sort of expanded keyword search or "smart search" ability. Right now, I see people can search by genre and several other parameters. The trouble is, you can't really tell how the music sounds until you listen to everything, and genre or instrument isn't always the best way to find the piece with the most appropriate mood. This is an interesting technical problem, but I believe creating some sort of keywords for "expanded search" could help fill the gap. Perhaps it could be like one of those personality tests where there are a great number more adjectives to try to get a profile. Another approach is to use an algorithm to allow people to find "similar" pieces to a given piece, or even traversing a visual "map" of related pieces based on listener/rating data using a multidimensional scaling (MDS) algorithm. The idea would be that it would create a more "intuitive" sort of search that could help people expand their horizons in searching and possibly better find just the right piece.
Another related idea would be to have some sort technology, maybe with Ajax or Flash, where just by mousing over something you start to hear a little bit. Combined with the "visual search map" idea, this could be a really powerful, revolutionary way to search music.
Anyhow, hope that thought wasn't too long. It's just a suggestion. If you have any questions on these ideas or how one might be able to implement them, please let me know. As a said, I love the site and how it's put together.
Thanks,
Jonathan

Mike,
sorry for pestering you with questions, but, just wanted to clarify something. I pitched a number of tracks for the zipklang library project, it then closed and has since reopened. The tracks are still viewable in the zipklang project, but I am unsure if this means they were selected or not? The closing date has been extended, so i'm a little confused.
Also what does the 'submit this track to the music library' do? If I were to hit this on the zipklang tracks would they then be taken away from that project?
I look forward to hearing back from you,
Rick.

Hi Mike
Just noticed that a couple of projects have extended their deadlines, one of them for the second time. Obviously they haven't found what they are looking for yet and are buying more time. With this in mind would it be worth adding a disattach function on the site. Some of the writers may have already posted the limit of two tracks to a project and since none of the current pitches were chosen it would give them a another chance to get it right. I think the two track limit is the right way to go but in the event of extensions then a disattach function might be advantageous to both the writers and the film makers. It may also free up some of your time.
Cheers.

Thanks for your reply regarding free music for students. Sorry my responce has been slow but i've been busy with a couple of projects recently. You have put my mind at rest on this issue so i'll stop fretting about it. In the next month I will have some finished versions of tracks I have put on the site and if possible would like to replace the rough cuts I have posted with the finished versions. Is it possible to do this? The tracks are, Tell them apart, Ny-lon and the wind. I hope this is workable as the production quality is so much better on the new versions.

Hi Mike, Thanks for your support.
I've been signed up for a couple of months now and just discovered the "submit this track to the humtoo music library" link.
Good thing though because all of my tracks are already published on cd's under same title, so I just renamed them "Title (Humtoo Version)".
I have more original tracks to upload, but was hoping you would let me know if I'm doing this right so far.
I read the terms agreement, but I'm no lawyer, and just want to be sure I'm not missing anything before I load more music that's already published.

Hi Mike,
A few months back I deleted some of the songs on my profile. Swamp Country, Cool blues, Meadows, and several others (not sure which ones). Hello Mike,
First of all, thanks for presenting me this great website ! I just sent a track for the Humcast project, and I might have others to send. But before I have a question for which I couldn't find the answer. I am new here, and french, so maybe the answer is obvious and I just didn't get it. Sorry for that.
Anyway I wanted to know if a track is selected, am I allowed to use the same track for other projects ? Personnal projects ? Or will they be the only one who will have the right to use it ?
I am sorry if I am asking a stupid questions, but even if it has been several years that I have been working in this business, the contracts are never the same !
Good luck to everyone, and thanks for the cool work opportunities.

Hey, thanks for your email, we're going through them all at the moment.

Hey there,
Just to let you know: Peter's "HUMCAST_1a" track sounds weird here too... Kind of like there's something wrong with the connection of my monitors, while I'm also under water...
ok thanks mike. I wonder why just that one track doesn't play back properly? hmmm.......
my track HUMCAST_1a still sounds "warbly" when it plays on the website. Does the original .wav file sound ok to you in the office?

Hi Mike, thanks for the email - we're looking at the entries now - we are in no hurry, can we extend the project by a couple of weeks? We want to upload some video too.
hi mike is there meant to be a video for the sweet honey project? when I click on download it comes up with an error, and it won't play either.
actually my track called HUMCAST_1a doesn't seem to play back properly on your player - seems distorted and "wobbly".
thanks for your feedback. do i assume that HUMCAST_1a is not instantly recognisable enough?
hi mike like the new style project pages - much easier to navigate, especially the music/video players. Are you going to apply this format to all the music makers pages as well?
do you want a kind of musical "call sign" at the start of the HUMCAST tune? a bit cheesy perhaps .....what do you think?

.... feedback/suggestions for further development (or consignment to the bin!!) much appreciated!! Cheers Peter
... but can be "souped up" as you wish (electric guitars or whatever...), or I can do an "orchestral" or "ethnic" version to suit, etc.... The possibilites are endless....
Hi Just uploaded track called HUMCAST_1a. Very simple melody, which can be developed in many, many ways. Cyclic accompaniment = revolving earth!!!! As it stands it works as subtle background music.....
thanks mike. by the way did you get my email with the download links? I sent it earlier this morning. Peter
what is the overall tone of the humcast going to be (chilled, upbeat, manic, middle of the road, "weird", etc....) it would help to know when planning the music.
Sorry, but I can´t seem to get any of the video players to play, and when I clicked on the Download to download the video, I got an error page.I´d like to submit a song, or songs for this project, but would have to see it first. The entries by t...
mike, the humtoo player doesn't seem to sync the music and video properly unless you play it a bit then rewind the music track. A few others have mentioned this as well.
Hi Mike, were you looking for a full jingle (lyrics/sung) for this or instrumental backing for some kind of audio overdubs? Also I think the dates are wrong... did you mean Feb 1st?
is there any sound on the video? can't seem to hear anything. also, could you give a few more details as to style, instruments, mood, etc... thanks

Mike - this is a test email in response to an email I sent today. We'll see if an email sent on the Humtoo site will go thru from my home computer.
FWIW - the office computer uses internet explorer and at home I use firefox.

hi mike, do i HAVE to be a member of the PRS to join this community ?
Hey what happened to the Onionmedia AVSDA awards project. It has vanished!! Has a decision finally been made?
to join PRS my music needs to be currently used or have already been used. so i have no IPI number to join with?
thanks,
howard.
Hey Mike, great site. I've been doing spots and films for awhile here in NYC. Tell me more about the site! hope you are well!

What is the procedure?

Hi Mike
I'm still waiting to hear about a couple of music pitches for onionmedia projects. The project deadlines are approaching rapidly and I wondered if you had had any word from the content provider yet.
Hi Mike
how will we know if we have been successful with a music pitch? What sort of time delay should we expect before being contacted by the content maker? Thanks
